Serene Suites Memory Care

Making life easier for the one you love.

Watching a loved one struggle with dementia is one of the hardest things you can go through.

You may feel like the person you love is slowly slipping away, even while they sit opposite you at the dinner table, looking the same as ever

For many, changes in personality, confusion, and memory loss are just as heartbreaking as the physical struggles their loved one experiences. You may feel exhausted, hopeless and uncertain about how you can help and support the person you love.

While there is no easy way through this process, you don’t have to face it alone.

THE SERENE SUITES DIFFERENCE

Compassionate care, grounded in specialized solutions.

Our brains are unique places, shaped by our biology, environment, and life experiences.

When a person develops a degenerative brain disease such as dementia or Alzheimer’s, their symptoms will be unique as well. No two people have the same experience, which is why no two care plans should look alike.

That’s why our memory care facility has developed a highly focused system of care that is centered around the individual, intentionally tailored to their physical, emotional, and psychological wants and needs.

From the most minute of details, to big routine care decisions, every component of our community is designed to provide the personalized support, comfort, and security your loved one deserves, in order to live their best life possible.

Serene Culinary Care

Edward Gossman, Chef and Culinary Director
Edward Gossman is our Chef and Culinary Director here at Serene Suites. He has been with the community since late 2019, several months before Serene Suites opened to serve seniors from the Cincinnati area and beyond. Edward has been involved in the food services industry for over 30 years, having owned and operated his own restaurants, as well as providing food services for seniors over the last decade of his career. Ever since early childhood Ed has held a soft spot for seniors, so after moving on from the restaurant industry it was only a natural fit for him to transition into taking care of seniors as a full-time profession. When asked about his thoughts on creating great meals for our seniors he has this to say:

"

I am honored and proud to be able to have a positive impact on the daily lives of our residents here at Serene Suites.  It is important to me to provide my best effort to serve our seniors with excellent and nutritious meals so as to help them have their best possible day…….every day

Holistic care

People suffering from dementia often struggle to communicate. Art offers a safe, creative outlet for residents to express their feelings and emotions. We offer the Opening Minds through Art (OMA) program, which is a failure-free program that provides opportunities for creative self-expression and social engagement.

Given not only the link between cognitive performance and physical activity, but also the therapeutic effects of walking and exploring, we offer a number of guided physical activities residents can engage in safely.

Gardening and cooking classes are just some of the skill-building activities on offer in our community to encourage feelings of agency and happiness.

Weight loss is a major concern for people suffering from dementia. Our philosophy about food is that it should look and smell amazing – enticing residents to want to eat.

Fresh meals are prepared for breakfast, lunch and dinner by an experienced chef who understands the foods that support brain health.

We have a state of the art kitchen for preparing daily meals, and residents have access to kitchens on every floor, complete with cool-touch technology to keep them safe.

Our non-denominational facility allows residents to meditate or worship in a safe, familiar space – at any time of day.
Our memory care facility prides itself on strict sanitation and cleanliness standards to protect residents. From housekeeping, to laundry services, to assistance bathing, we ensure that every resident is given the dignity they deserve.

Medical expertise

Our doctors have focused on this area of care for their entire professional careers, and are dedicated in their research and personal interactions to easing the effects of dementia.
Your family’s care partners have hands-on experience working with dementia sufferers, sometimes within their own families, and so they understand exactly how to deliver compassionate, empathetic care, every step of the way.
We know routine is critical to the mental well-being of our residents. That’s why we’ve curated a timetable that residents can find consistent comfort and peace of mind in.
Diet and health go hand in hand. We exclusively serve well-balanced, delicious meals that are full of foods known to naturally ease the side effects of dementia.

Having access to the most up-to-date technologies and resources empowers us to serve residents to the best standard possible.
We take safety extremely seriously: all doors are protected with keypad entry, so residents are able to safely explore their surroundings with guided help from care partners.
CARE EXPERTS

Helping people cope with memory loss is our passion

No two people suffering from dementia have the same experience. And for that reason, none of our care plans are exactly the same.

To tackle dementia effectively, our memory care facility focuses on developing deeply personalized, dynamic care plans, influenced by a number of factors, including your loved one’s personality, the stage of their illness, input from family and loved ones, medical history, and much more.

We then unite whole-body care practices with groundbreaking medical research, to immediately begin elevating your loved one’s quality of life, from the moment they join our memory care community.

Our medical directors decades-long consultation, training, and clinical experience have culminated in them being able to confidently create a deeply personalized wellness plan that suits your loved one, according to their unique challenges.

When possible, we avoid reliance on pharmaceuticals. However, when medication can play an effective role in managing dementia, we implement it as part and parcel of a holistic care plan.

Nutrition is a crucial component of well-being. Our chef-prepared daily meals focus on calorie-dense meals that are thoughtfully prepared, using only the freshest, most high quality ingredients available.

All care partners at Serene Suites are trained by our in-house Dementia Expert, who covers dementia-specific behaviors ranging from sundowning, to wandering, to hoarding, and much more, so carers can lead with knowledge, compassion, and understanding.

During this time of stress and uncertainty, we make sure to prioritize security, comfort, and peace of mind.

WELLNESS ACTIVITIES

A good day for your loved one is a good day for us.

Our residents have always led rich, interesting lives. And we’re not about to let dementia get in the way of that.

That’s why we’re dedicated to providing an array of fulfilling, entertaining activities that serve your loved one’s mind, body, and emotional well-being.

Our memory care facility focuses on creating a reciprocal environment in which residents engage in projects with a purpose.

These projects stimulate executive cognitive function, while also encouraging social interactions.

We are careful to choose simple yet varied activities that offer larger value: from folding napkins for meals, to flower arranging centerpieces, to making dog treats for local shelters, we have a variety of projects available.

Unique challenges require unique solutions. As a memory care facility, we are proud to offer round the clock offerings specific to taking care of the brain.

Activities include customized word games and cognitive strategies that seek to slow the degenerative effects of Alzheimer’s.

Art, music, meditation, prayer, beautiful gardens, and exercise activities are just some of the options available to residents in order to cultivate happiness, balance, and peace throughout their days.

We also offer the Opening Minds Through Art (OMA) program, an award-winning, art-making program specifically designed for people with dementia. OMA is ideal for strengthening social engagement skills and providing an outlet for safe self-expression.
