FAMILY EDUCATION SERIES
Resident-Centered Care: Meeting Them in Their Reality
A free educational event for families navigating dementia care, hosted by Serene Suites.
What Does It Mean to Meet Your Loved One in Their Reality?
When someone you love is living with dementia, the instinct to correct, redirect, or reason with them can feel natural. It's human to want to pull them back to the present. But that approach often leads to frustration on both sides, and there's a better way.
Serene Suites, Cincinnati's premier memory care center, is hosting a family education series built around one core idea: when families understand how dementia shapes perception and behavior, caregiving becomes less of a battle and more of a connection.
Whether you're newly navigating a diagnosis or have been a caregiver for years, these sessions were designed with you in mind.
About the Event
Led by Serene Suites’ Medical Director, Dr. Srivastava, this candid and practical session will give families a clearer picture of what their loved one is experiencing and how to respond with confidence. The evening will cover:
- How dementia affects the brain and shapes day-to-day behavior
- The difference between safe and unsafe behaviors, and how to tell them apart
- How to shift your expectations and connect with your loved one where they are
Light bites and refreshments will be provided.

About the Host
Dr. Manish Srivastava brings 34 years of experience in geriatric medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. He holds affiliations at Bethesda North Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Select Specialty Hospital Cincinnati North, and has built his career around helping older adults and their families navigate serious illness with dignity.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Srivastava has written on topics including coping with terminal illness and the role of palliative care, reflecting a commitment to educating and supporting patients and families at every stage.
This is a rare opportunity to ask questions and hear directly from a physician who has dedicated his practice to this work.
