This weekend marks the end of Daylight Savings – which means we fall back and get an extra hour!
To celebrate that extra hour, we wanted to provide you with a timely reminder to do something for YOU. (Read that again, for YOU – not the person living with cognitive loss, for YOU). With the demanding journey of being a caregiver, it is very crucial to your overall health and well-being to make yourself a priority, too. Here are our top 5 personal favorite ways to reduce your caregiving stress:
Seek out respite support. Do you have a friend or family member who could step in and be in charge of your loved one for a day or even a half day?
Treat yourself to that extra hour of sleep. Sleep benefits brain function and clears out toxins that build up when we are awake.
Schedule your regular wellness check- ups. This would include vision, dental, and especially your primary care!
Spend a quiet evening reading. Remember that book that you have been meaning to carve out the time for, but haven’t gotten around to? Grab yourself a nice comfy blanket, a soothing cup of tea and lose yourself in that book.
Turn off all your blue screen electronics. All emails and social media can wait. Unplug! Spend time on you and not everyone else.
